Femke van Heijningen werk als kunstenaar, keramiste en kunstdocent. In haar werk staat de natuur centraal, zowel als inspiratiebron als leverancier van materialen. Regelmatig geef ze keramiekworkshops waarin ze mensen kennis laat maken met deze werkwijze.

Daarnaast is ze actief binnen kunstcollectief YAFF in Tilburg. Onze projecten richten zich op sociaal-maatschappelijke vraagstukken en onderzoeken de rol van kunst in de samenleving. Vanuit ethisch, politiek en kunsthistorisch perspectief ontwikkelen we uiteenlopende projecten: van installaties, publicaties en performances tot educatieve tools en gerecyclede objecten.

Ook werkt Femke als kunstdocent bij het Depot van Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen. Daar geef ik rondleidingen en workshops aan diverse groepen, waaronder families, bedrijfsuitjes en schoolklassen. Ook geef ze, in samenwerking met het museum, les op middelbare scholen.

Sinds september 2024 volgt Femke de master Education in Arts aan het Piet Zwart Instituut. Tijdens deze studie onderzoekt ze op het organiseren van keramiekworkshops in relatie tot het concept van de meent: gemeenschappelijke hulpbronnen die door een gemeenschap worden gedeeld en beheerd.

Femke van Heijningen works as an artist, ceramicist, and art teacher. Nature is central to her work, both as a source of inspiration and as a source of materials. She regularly leads ceramic workshops introducing people to this method.

She is also active in the art collective YAFF in Tilburg. Our projects focus on social issues and explore the role of art in society. From ethical, political, and art historical perspectives, we develop a wide range of projects: from installations, publications, and performances to educational tools and recycled objects.

Femke also works as an art teacher at the Depot of Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen. There, I give tours and workshops to various groups, including families, company outings, and school classes. In collaboration with the museum, she also teaches at secondary schools.

Since September 2024, Femke has been pursuing a Master’s degree in Education in Arts at the Piet Zwart Institute. During this program, she is researching the organization of ceramic workshops in relation to the concept of the commons: common resources shared and managed by a community.
